Founders of Asian Festival

Dr. Steve Kaplan was the  Asian Festival Chair in 2018. It was a tremendous success, the festival had received strong support from the state, city, corporate and communities. There were more than 20,000 attendees for 2 days event.

Winnie Kho Kaplan is the Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Arizona,  Asian District Steering Committee, Mesa and very passionate in promoting the Asian Culture, Commerce and Community locally and internationally.

Excellent Service Award from Scottsdale City Mayor Jim Lane and Arizona Asian American Association in recognition of outstanding achievement in serving the community at the Asian Festival.

WHY JOIN EVENT What to expect at the Asian Festival

The Asian Festival celebration in conjunction with the unveiling of the  Asian District signage at the Sycamore/Main St Light Rail Station  on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 9 am to 5 pm.  The City of Mesa and Valley Metro are partnering with Asian Festival for this celebratory event.  The Mayor from the City of Mesa, Councilmen, State Senates, Valley Metro Board Members, community & business Leaders, students and families are excited to attend.

The Asian Festival mission is to promote a peaceful world by increasing international awareness and cultural understanding.  It is a time to build community through businesses and family oriented activity.   The Asian Festival is the inaugural event, that we hope to expand to various other events supporting the Asian District throughout the year.  Our focus is organizing diverse cultural festivals, workshops and events for the public to learn and experience another culture, meet international friends, improve their language ability, taste of Asian cuisine, arts & crafts, tea ceremony, cultural dance and promote the value of cultures and traditions.

Welcome Message from the Asian Festival’s President, Dr Steve Kaplan

I would like to introduce the Asian Festival 2023  at the Sycamore/Main Street Light Rail Station Parking Lots on Friday to Saturday, February 3 & 4, 2023 from 4 am to 10 pm  and Sunday, Feb 5 from 12 noon to 5 pm. The City of Mesa and Valley Metro are partnering with Asian Festival to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Mayor from the City of Mesa, Councilmembers, State Senates, Valley Metro Board Members, community & business Leaders, students and families are excited to attend. We are expecting more than 50,000 attendees for this special event.

I have extensive project management, production, and event coordination experience.  I travelled extensively through out Asia for many years and have worked event planning and coordination for Asian Royal families and dignitaries here in America.
